The Real Deal with Discipline

We hear it all the time - everywhere.. Be more disciplined - it's become the buzz word of 2023. Here's the deal with discipline:

Is it important? Yes
If you're flexible does that mean you're not disciplined? No

We're constantly bombarded with images of people skipping eating out, packing tupperware meals and screaming disciplined while they do it. I have nothing against that, if that makes you *happy* and works for you - AMAZING.

What I've learned after working in this industry for 10+ years now, is that brand of 'discipline' isn't usually enjoyable or sustainable for most people.

What's the point of making a lifestyle change if you hate life in the process, and can't maintain it? Life if too short to gain and lose the same 20 lbs year after year because we're not being sustainable with our methods. Not to mention it's exhausting to put the work in to lose the weight, just to regain it months later.

Mainstream media wants you to believe that level of discipline is the only way you'll be able to have your goal body, weight, or strength - I'm here to tell you that's simply not true.

I don't pack my meals with me, I confidently go out to eat every week without worry. I eat at other peoples houses without batting an eyelash, and to top it off - I don't hesitate eating birthday cake. If you know me, or have followed me for long.. I am the girl with candy in my gym bag, work bag, and pantry always. A couple pieces of candy are A-OK! I also comfortably maintain a healthy and leaner body year round.

I do this by being realistic in my goals, efforts, and understanding what is and is not sustainable for my lifestyle so I can plan around those things. I enjoy how I fuel my body, and how I challenge my body - so it makes maintaining this lifestyle easy.
