You’re looking for motivation, but what you’re missing is confidence. You’re not motivated because society has told you everything is instant and it’s not
So when it’s not easy or fast you say
- I don’t have time
- I’ll do it next week
- This doesn’t work
Sound familiar? What you don’t realize is ever single time you do this you kill your confidence bit by bit and you kill your motivation bit by bit
No wonder you don’t feel like doing it. You’ve spent years proving to yourself that you won’t follow through. You tell your inner self that you can’t do it (Not true by the way)
So how do you fix it?
How do you become one of those super motivated people that don’t seem to struggle to do things?
They’re NOT more capable than you
They simply have more practice
The more you do it - The easier it gets
You lack confidence in yourself, not because you’re not capable. The world has convinced you everything is simple when you start. If you tried to learn a new language tomorrow, would you expect to be fluent after the first lesson? No. Confidence and motivation work the same way
Set a list of actionable goals for the week. Example:
INSTEAD OF: I’m going to workout this week
TRY THIS:
- What: Workout 3 times/week
- Plan: Following ______ program (if you need a program, I know a girl 🔗)
- Time Block: Monday/Wednesday/Fridays after work 4:30pm-5:30pm
- Where: Fitness Club (whatever gym you go to/or a designated space at home)
- Remove Barriers: Packing pre workout, and gym clothes in my work bag the night before
- Reward: THIS STEP IS IMPORTANT | We live in an instant gratification society - it’s killing confidence and motivation, that new thing you want. This is where we earn it. Every week you crush this goal - put $20 into a jar towards that pair of jeans, new jacket, etc. trust me - you’ll like that thing a lot more if you work for it
Don’t over complicate it - Make a plan for it and make it happen
You’re wildly more capable than you realize
I’m cheering you on every step of the way 👏
